Coed Adult Softball

Wolcott Area Coed Adult Softball League Rules  General
  • Signups will be in early June with the first games scheduled for approximately the end of June or early July.
  • The season will consist of 12 games. 
  • Games will be scheduled for 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Top 4 teams advance to the playoff round.
  • Championship game to be played no later than Labor Day.
2022 registration fees will be $60 per person Eligibility     
  •  Adults at least 18 years of age and out of high school are eligible to play softball. 
  •  Players must be listed on the official roster before they may participate. Rosters must have the name, address, and phone number of all ball players. The roster maximum is 12 players, unless agreed upon. 
  •  All players must sign the Player Agreement before they can participate. Team managers/captains are responsible for adhering to this policy. 
Game length 
  •  On game nights, the game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.. At least eight (8) players from each team’s roster must be present and ready to play. At 6:00 p.m., if a team has eight players, they must start the game. If a team has less than 8 players, there will be a 5-minute grace period. Forfeits will be called 5 minutes after game time. 
  •  Any game suspended (due to inclement weather or darkness) prior to the completion of 4 full innings will be played from the last completed inning. A winner will be declared at that time. Any game resulting in a tie after the 4th inning either because of the time limit or darkness will result in a tie game. 
  •  Any team that forfeits 3 of its scheduled games during the season will be dropped from the league. Any remaining games will be forfeited and any games that the team has won, the decision will be reversed. 
Equipment & Attire 
  •  Teams must provide their own playing equipment. 
  •  The league officials will provide each team with new game balls. 
  •  Shirts must be worn at all times by those players participating in the game. The shirt    does not have to be a team shirt. 
  •  Rubber molded, plastic cleats or all-purpose turf shoes may be worn (no metal spikes). 
  •  The catcher may use his/her own discretion as to whether or not to wear a face mask. 
  •  Donuts and other batting aids are not permitted. 
  •  BATS must meet the requirements of USSSA and be included on the list of approved bats published by the USSSA national office. Any Player in violation of the USSSA bat requirements will be given a one game suspension for the first warning. Anything thereafter will result in a suspension for the season. No senior bats are allowed. 
Conduct 
  •  The manager must be in control of his/her players at all times. No taking of drugs, alcohol, fighting, or use of abusive language by players or spectators will be tolerated. The league coordinator reserves the right to remove violators from the program. 
  •  Any manager, player or spectator who physically or verbally assaults another person will be removed from the league. 
  •  Any player ejected from a game must leave the park. If the player refuses to do so, the game will automatically be forfeited against his team. First violation will result in one game suspension and the second violation will result in suspension for the season. 
  •  Only the team manager may have a discussion with the umpire over a particular call. If the manager is not present, he/she should assign an acting manager to handle debates. 
  •  Alcohol is prohibited! If caught drinking, you will be asked to leave. If you have more than one person asked to leave because of an alcohol offense, your team will be removed from the league. 
  •  Please be courteous with your language, obscene language will not be tolerated 
Scores 
  • The managers of BOTH teams are responsible for emailing or texting scores to a designated person after each game. 
Miscellaneous 
  •  The league coordinator may take any action deemed necessary to maintain order and safety within the league. 
  •  The Wolcott Elks Lodge and league coordinator are not responsible for any damage to vehicles parked at the fields. 
In-house rules of play 
  • Warm-ups: In order to speed up play, there will be ONE warm-up pitch allowed for all players, including pitchers, between innings, with the exception of the top and bottom of the first inning, or if a new pitcher enters the game. 
  • All teams must have 5 males, 3 females or vice versa to start the game. If a team does not, the game will be forfeited. 
  • Must field 3 females at all times 
  • Male/female/male (or vice versa) batting order recommended
  • All players start with 1-1 count with 1 to waste (you are allowed only 1 foul ball, the second foul ball will record an out)
  • Pitch height is 6′ min. – unlimited arc 
  • Max of 6 runs per inning, last inning unlimited. 
  • ONE home run per person, per game. A home run scored after your first home run will be a double. 
  • ALL attempted outs at home plate shall be FORCE OUTS. Runners attempting to score will NOT touch home plate but will instead cross the designated line at the third base side of home plate. To record an out at home the catcher must have a foot on home plate and control of the ball BEFORE the runner crosses the designated line. 
  • Any runner that touches home plate while attempting to score, regardless of a potential play at home or not, will record an automatic out.
  • If a player is injured and you have a sub, no out is recorded 
  • No fake pitching allowed 
  • Each team is allowed courtesy runners, runners will be the PREVIOUS OUT of the same gender. 
  • There will be no “in house” subbing. You must try to find a sub from the list, or outside the league. If you cannot, you will forfeit. 
  • NO bunting is allowed. The batter must take a full swing and the ball must travel a determined distance (past the arc in front of home plate) to be considered “in-play”, otherwise it is a foul ball.

ELKS LODGE RULES FOR ADULT SOFTBALL LEAGUE 

  • NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED ON ELKS GROUNDS. THIS INCLUDES PLAYERS AND SPECTATORS. (FIELDS AND SIDELINES)
  • NO ILLEGAL DRUGS ALLOWED ON ELKS GROUNDS.
  • NO VULGAR LANGUAGE OR PROFANITY ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON ELKS GROUNDS. 
  • ALL COVID 19 RULES THAT ARE IN EFFECT DURING THE SEASON WILL BE FOLLOWED.
  • TEAM CAPTAINS SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF THESE RULES AND CONVEYING THE RULES TO ALL THEIR RESPECTIVE PLAYERS. ALL TEAM CAPTAINS WILL ACKNOWLEDGE THESE RULES BY SIGNING BELOW. 
THESE RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED AND COMPLIED WITH. VIOLATION OF THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE AS FOLLOWS. IF ONE TEAM MEMBER VIOLATES ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES THE WHOLE TEAM WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE.  1ST OFFENSE – A WRITTEN WARNING WILL BE WRITTEN AND PRESENTED TO THE TEAM CAPTAIN. 2ND OFFENSE – THE TEAM WILL BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE THE FIELD AND THE GAME WILL BE FORFEITED. 3RD OFFENSE – THE TEAM WILL BE EXCLUDED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON.  THE ABOVE RULES ARE IN PLACE TO PROTECT THE BENEVOLENT AND PROTECTIVE ORDER OF ELKS.
